I'm just in the process of writing my manual for the November workshops on decking (patio), structure, stairs. This is the project I'm going to be working on. But the easiest way to get started with us is to use a slab where we use classes for the components of the slab. The create joist command will allow you to choose these components to create your structural elements at the correct elevation.
