I am the author of the Vectorworks Essentials Tutorial Manual. I was recently talking to a university tutor that uses this manual with the students. They wanted an exercise that would extend the students' knowledge of basic tools and commands. At the end of the third chapter of this manual the students should be able to draw simple objects using basic tools and commands.
In chapter 3 you covered the tools and commands in detail. This exercise uses many of those tools and commands in a sequence to create this design. There is more than one way to do this but you should be using many of the tools that were covered in chapter 3. You may not notice but there are areas where it is easier to draw guide lines, place fillets, and then use the polygon tool to create the complex shape. Using tools like the mirror or the rotate tool will allow you to quickly around to create the design. This movie shows you how to complete this exercise. If you have bought my manual and you would like to test the knowledge from the first chapter, try this exercise.
How did you get on? If you think you need to refresh your memory on how to draw objects and control the size of them, think about going back and refreshing your knowledge of chapter 3.
If you do not have the Vectorworks Essentials tutorial manual but you would like to learn Vectorworks I strongly suggest that you purchase this manual. Here is a link that you can use to find the manual. http://www.vectorworks.net/guides/Vectorworks-Essentials-Tutorial-Manual-6th-Edition
